“Holiday at the Museum” welcomes visitors to take a trip through time, and see the Museum fully decked out in holiday themed regalia over several decades. This annual event is a time to look forward to, and visitors will be astounded to see the ways the Museum volunteers recreate the atmosphere various rooms have with their artifacts and convincing the viewers they are part of the era represented.

With great enthusiasm, the New Market Historical Society brings back the ever popular “Santa Pub Crawl!”
This will be a great feature for the Very Merry Main Street calendar of events. Newmarket is chock full of winter and holiday activities from late November through early January. So watch for the complete listings as we get closer to December. Meantime, keep your eyes open for items you’ll incorporate in your own Santa costume for the Pub Crawl. The Historical Society is working on the roster of participating locations for all to enjoy.

15 Newmarket Conservation Commission’s Volunteer Project Day at Piscassic-Loiselle Conservation Property, preceded by an opportunity to enjoy an informative Birdwatcher’s Walk at the property. Free, open to all, starting at the site at 8:30 AM with several projects geared to appeal to all sorts of interests and abilities, and each project will be finished during this work session. This will be helpful to the habitat the property offers varied wildlife, and satisfying to all the volunteers and birdwatchers!

26 STUFF A CRUISER 9AM to 2PM in the Rite Aid Parking Lot! Our Newmarket Police Department joins the Newmarket Community Church in looking out for all families during the Christmas season who can benefit from the community support for Santa bringing gifts to those in need. Bring donations of new gifts/toys UNWRAPPED to the cruiser for the Police and Church to distribute locally. Monetary donations as well as gift cards are warmly welcomed during this Stuff a Cruiser event, too! You can contact Officer Annaliese Schmidt (aschmidt@newmarketnh.gov) for more information. We’re hoping the cruiser will be stuffed floor to rooftop on November 26th!

The Newmarket Business Association’s Holiday Mixer will be at the Stone School Museum from 5:30-7:30. The museum will have special holiday exhibits, curated from the vast collection of vintage toys and games, and vintage greeting cards. Holiday cheer, door prizes and a visit from Pere Noel. Parking available at the Stone Church parking lot also. This could be a good opportunity to meet and mingle with Newmarket’s business owners, if you are interested in seeing what the NBA does if you have a business and have wondered about membership.
This holiday mixer will also serve as a drop off point for donations of unwrapped toys or gift cards for the Giving Tree to be distributed to local families facing new financial stresses. There will be a separate bin for canned or dry goods, paper goods, toiletries or gift cards for the Newmarket Food Pantry.
30 Newmarket Elementary School – PTA Fundraiser Family Shopping Night at NES from 5pm to 8pm. Kindle your own fond recollection of Scholastic Book Fair shopping fun by bringing your family to the Book Fair! Reading is a meaningful passive recreational activity, and helpful to reinforce a lifelong love of reading. We hope you can help support the PTA during this fundraiser.

3 The FREE Very Merry Kids Holiday Party 2PM to 4PM at the Millspace – downtown art center. Join us for this awesome event filled with holiday themed games, quick crafts station, music of the season and a great kick off to the Holiday Season! The Rec Elves are looking forward to seeing our community out and about around the town.
3 11:00 AM – 3 PM Stone School Museum – New Market Historical Society Open House. This year’s theme is “Holiday at the Museum.” The museum will be decked out in its best holiday fancy wear. The smell of hot cider, with the sound of carols in the air will set a wintery tone of joy for the attendees.
Weather permitting, you can enjoy the fire pit outdoors, with a Make Your Own S’more station or even try an old-fashioned roasted chestnut.
This Open House also serves as a community drop off point for the Newmarket Food Pantry, collecting canned goods and donations of unwrapped toys or gift cards. These gift items go toward the Giving Tree for local families experiencing financial stressors. Remember essentials are always needed, such as toiletries, paper goods and and please consider diapers or other family essentials.

4 The 2023 Backyard Bash Planning Session begins at the Rec Center, 6 PM. We’d love to see you return and get your input during this first meeting, and refresh the relationships and connections made during the inaugural planning sessions for the successful ’22 Backyard Bash. Planning Sessions are scheduled for the first Wednesday of the month, 6 PM, held at the Rec Center. The Rec Department holds a Plant Swap, helpful demonstrations and hands-on opportunities to propagate, transplant, diagnose and trade plants! Join us, 6:30 – 8:00, to be with other Plant Fans! Free, no registration required, and bring a plant or two to trade. We’ll have plants galore, if you have one or not – start your plant collection with this group gathering!
